Frequently Asked Questions
Clean Fire FAQ
Why do you use a coconut beeswax blend instead of paraffin or soy? We chose a coconut and beeswax blend because it offers the best of both worlds: a clean, non-toxic burn with excellent scent throw. Paraffin is petroleum-based, and while soy is popular, many soy waxes on the market are highly processed or blended with additives. Our coconut beeswax blend burns cleanly, holds fragrance beautifully, and aligns with our commitment to non-toxic ingredients.
What are IFRA-certified fragrance oils? IFRA (International Fragrance Association) sets strict safety standards for fragrance ingredients. Our fragrance oils are IFRA-certified, meaning they’ve been tested and formulated to meet safety guidelines for skin contact and inhalation. This helps ensure our candles are as safe as possible while still delivering beautiful scent.
Do you use essential oils? Many of our fragrance oils contain essential oils, and we love working with them. However, we don’t limit ourselves to “essential oils only.” While essential oils are wonderful, not all essential oils are ideal for candle making. Some can be irritating when burned, and others don’t perform well in wax. We carefully select blends that are both safe and effective.
Isn’t “essential oils only” better?
Not necessarily. While essential oils are natural, they are still potent plant compounds. Some essential oils can cause skin irritation or respiratory sensitivity when diffused or burned, especially in higher concentrations. We prioritize safety and performance over the “all essential oils” label. Our goal is to create candles that smell beautiful and burn cleanly without compromising your well-being.
Why don’t you offer larger candle sizes? We’re currently a very small, one-person operation working out of a limited space. Because of this, we’re only able to offer our current sizes at this time. We truly appreciate your interest in larger candles and hope to expand our offerings in the future as we grow!
Can I place a custom order? Yes! While we have limited space and production capacity right now, we’re happy to discuss custom orders when possible. Feel free to email us at cleanfirecandles@gmail.com with your request, and we’ll let you know what we can do.
How should I care for my wooden wick candle? For the best burn and to avoid tunneling, burn your candle for 2–3 hours on the first use so the wax melts evenly to the edges. Trim the wooden wick to about 1/8 inch before each burn. Never burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time, and always place it on a stable, heat-resistant surface. You can find full candle care instructions here.
Do your candles have a strong scent throw? Our candles are designed to fill a room with fragrance without being overpowering. Scent throw can vary depending on room size, airflow, and individual sensitivity. We formulate our candles to offer a balanced, beautiful scent experience.
Are your candles safe for pets? While our candles are made with non-toxic ingredients, we always recommend using caution around pets. Some animals are more sensitive to scents than others. If you notice any signs of discomfort, it’s best to extinguish the candle and ventilate the space.
